Indian Health Council COO Angelina Renteria Appointed to Represent California on National CHAP Board

Valley Center, CA— Indian Health Council, Inc. (IHC) announced that Angelina Renteria, Chief Operating Officer, has been appointed to serve as the California Area Tribal representative on the National Community Health Aide Program (CHAP) Board, a permanent national board under the Indian Health Service (IHS).
The National CHAP Board plays a critical role in supporting Tribal and Federal Community Health Aide Programs across the contiguous 48 states by establishing and maintaining national standards and procedures, overseeing CHAP Area Certification Boards, and strengthening access to culturally grounded, community-based healthcare. The Board’s mission centers on empowering Tribes to build sustainable healthcare systems that meet the unique needs of their communities.
In this role, Renteria will represent California Tribal health interests, contributing expertise in Tribal health administration, program implementation, and community-centered care to help guide the continued expansion and governance of CHAP nationwide.
As Chief Operating Officer at IHC, Renteria oversees organizational operations, public health initiatives, and strategic program development, with a longstanding commitment to improving health outcomes for Native communities through culturally responsive care models.
