This month, the REZolution team collaborated with Generation Indigenous to host the 2nd annual Indigenous Stories Film Festival and Art Walk. A total of 27 pieces of art were submitted and displayed at the event. The art pieces ranged from jewelry, digital, ceramics, and paintings. The evening consisted of multiple Indigenous-created films, popcorn, community, and most importantly connection. Special guests were among the crowd such as Kimberly Norris-Guerrero, who starred in the hit TV series Seinfeld and others. Dinner was catered by local caterer Regina Stehly who served Bison Shepherd’s Pie and Three Sisters Salad, two recipes inspired by the REZolution cookbook.
Live artist Monica Zavala was outside for the duration of the event showcasing her skills as an artist for community to see and experience.

Please enjoy these examples of art that was submitted:

Winner of the Art Contest was local Cupeno woman, Christina “Chrissy” Gonzales who showcased her artistic abilities through hand-painted gourds turned into windchimes. Please see photo below. A wide variety of artists contributed to the art walk, ages 6 through 75.

The Indigenous Film Festival was a successful event overall; 215 people attended this second annual event. Feedback from the community was very positive and hopeful for another one the following year. A total of 9 films were shown, created by different members of Tribes across the United States. Film themes ranged from animation to thrillers to documentaries. Locally owned company New Moon Creative Studios photographed the evening. Thank you for a special evening surrounded by art and community!
