Anyone can be a survivor or perpetrator of domestic violence, and it can be happening closer to home than expected. Our family, friends, neighbors, coworkers, anyone could be at risk.
It's okay to feel sad or shocked when learning that someone you know is abusive or being abused. But remember that it took courage and strength to speak up, and that survivors know their story better than anyone. Let them know you support them by saying three simple but powerful words: "I believe you."
